Games Art & Design BA1: The Tinder Box

Hello all!
Welcome to my blog. This is where i shall be blogging all of my progression of my art work from university.

The first project.

So, our first project has begun... For the first project we a introduced to concept visualization, which we must create well informed and unique work.

We are given the task to transpose the story 'The Tinderbox' by Hans Christian Andersen. For this we have to take a character from the story and redesign them; may it be the Soldier, one of the three dog, the witch etcetera. In addition to this, we are given a time period we must base our character and story around. I was given the 1930's America, which i find very interesting.

The brief

For this project we must produce:

 Short synopsis
A short explanation of Hans Christian Andersen's The Tinder-Box, which sums up the entire story and it's major plot points. In addition to this, how we interpreter the story.

100 silhouettes
Very quick block drawings, to get you to blank your mind out of any preconceived ideas

Iterations
This is used to further develop you chosen silhouettes, and then gain variation in the character design process.

Character sheet
To show movement and characteristics in your character

Character Model
To show different view point of your character (in the industry, this'll show the modeller how to model the character)

Environment Studies
Four small 500 x 250 pixels environment thumbnails for each colour, value and line

Research and Reflective journal
All research do for the project. As well as critiques revived in group crits and own thoughts

Final
Two 2200 x 1300 pixels final pieces, with at least one of them with character included.
